Eye Care Technology

Eye Care Technology

We use the most advanced diagnostic eye care technology available. Your comprehensive exam will include screening for a variety of medical issues, and will determine your prescription for glasses and/or contacts.

Optomap

Our Optomap device allows us to take pictures of the inside of your eyes without the need for dilation. Your doctor will view these images with you, and the images remain in our system for future comparison when you have the images taken again. These retinal images allow our doctors to identify conditions including retinal detachments, macular holes, diabetic retinopathy, high blood pressure, and others issues that may affect your overall health.

OCT

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is an imaging test that uses light waves to take cross-section pictures of your retina. With OCT, your doctor can see each of the retina’s distinctive layers and take measurements of their thickness. These measurements aid in diagnosis, and provide treatment guidance for glaucoma and retinal conditions such as macular degeneration and diabetic macular edema.

Visual Field

A visual field test is an eye examination that can detect dysfunction in central and peripheral vision which may be caused by medical eye conditions such as glaucoma, stroke, high-risk medications, brain tumors or other neurological deficits. The visual field test is also routinely used to determine if someone would benefit from a blepharoplasty (upper lid lift).
